Father's Day Surprise

For Father's Day, I thought it would be a good idea to surprise Jay with professional photos from Portrait Innovations! Even more, I thought it would be so clever if I had the girls sporting their princess fishing pole in one of the pictures since Jay loves to fish. It did not go as planned....Mary Katherine was done after one picture so it turned into Annalee's 1 year old photo shoot 2 months late. Pardon Annalee's BAD hair day:)

Summer is Here!

Summer is here! (well, not technically) The girls have been on the go and having a blast despite all our recent illnesses-UTI(MK), ear infections(AL), viruses(MK), Mary Katherine's allergic reaction to her antibiotics and most recently MK's black eye (stayed tuned for pictures). We have been going to the gym, the pool, birthday parties, Sunday School crawfish boil, picnics, the zoo and Vacation Bible School this week (where I have also been volunteering). Jay even took Mary Katherine to "touch a truck" in downtown Roswell where the kids could climb on cherry pickers, sweepers, garbage trucks and bulldozers. This Saturday we go to see Nick Jr. "Storytime" at the Fox Theatre featuring all those characters that drive us nuts, but make the kids smile-Dora, Backyardigans, Wonder Pets & Kai-Lan. Somewhere in the midst of this madness I managed to potty train MK (actually the first week in May) and it was surprisingly not hard! Phew! Here are some random pics!

Meet Kipling

After losing our little Bentley in February, we were hesitant about getting another dog so soon. Then one day I was playing tennis all the way in Austell at Sweetwater Park and I found the greatest stray dog ever-a female yellow lab mix. I took her home with me that very day-Mary Katherine (who is OBSESSED with dogs) proudly named her Jessie puppy. She had no tags and to be sure Jay took her to our vet who checked for a micro-chip. There wasn't one. For some reason though we felt guilty about having this wonderful dog who was probably someone's long lost pet, so we placed an ad in the AJC and immediately a very nice man called and claimed her. We were devastated...she had lived with us for only a week, but slept with the girls and we just adored her. Well, after having Jessie in our lives (even for a short time) we were sure that we wanted a new dog and for it to be a yellow lab. We put in application with Atlanta Lab Rescue and Labrador Friends of the South...it took forever to get a response!!! Finally though the director of Atlanta Lab Rescue called us (thanks to a family friend who got our application bumped up) and said she had three male yellow labs, about 1-2 years old who would be perfect with very young children. She thought Kipling would be best for us, but warned us that something was wrong with the way he walked and that they were going to get him x-rayed to see what his condition was. Turns out he was born without a hip socket on one side, which is very painful and impossible to fix (unlike humans). To make a long story short, I was able to pick him up from Camp Woof were he was being held temporarily, about 3 weeks ago. Technically we are still "fostering" him as several vets are currently reviewing treatments for his "hip." Several says he needs to be put down, but apparently one thinks he may benefit from some sort of water/swim therapy at a holistic medicine place called Loving Touch. So that is what we are looking at now. Poor guy takes pain pills twice a day but you would never know he was in pain, aside from the fact that he drags his back legs behind him sometimes. He is so grateful just be alive and you can see it in his face!!! He LOVES the girls and guards them fiercely! He is cuddly, loving and extremely calm. He does like to chew and dig, though. We have to keep an eye on him...but he loves his crate and his "kong" so hopefully the chewing will lessen as we work with him! Pray that we can help build the muscle up around his missing hip to ease his pain! We cannot imagine having to explain to Mary Katherine that yet another dog has had to go "to heaven" or "back to his house."

Spring Break!

Here are some pictures from the beach-finally! We were able to go for five days, it was great! Perfect weather..actually a little cooler than in Atlanta! We spent the days at the beach, came home for afternoon naps and spent the evenings at Baytowne Village acrosst the street. The girls (especially MK) love Baytowne and all the treats that come with it-ice cream, the toy store, watching the remote control boats, watching the big kids on the zip line and eating giant lollipops. They were definitely spoiled. Mary Katherine insisted on doing the trampoline bungee one night..she begged "Mary Katherine wants to bounce, puh-lease!" and so I waited in line for 45 minutes for it, we get up to put the harness on and she screams bloody murder! She kept saying "I'm tired, go night-night" between screams (meanwhile Annalee is extremely low-maintenance in her stroller just observing everyone and taking it all in) This is what she says if she dosen't want to do something. At least we got it on camera! Everyday MK asks if we can go back to the beach house and ride the white bus to Baytowne...she even thinks the church bus at RUMC is headed there! We cannot wait to go back the last week of July...the condo is rented out everyday until then!

Easter Pics

Running way behind on post...here are some pics from Easter at our house and then at C & Hop's...beach to come soon!
My favorite is the one of Mary Katherine eating the chocolate rabbit. We found her in the corner of her playroom sitting with her feet up against the wall relaxing with chocolate all over her face!
