"Sew" Exhausted!

Well, I stole Erin's take on the word"sew" because I loved her post over the summer so much. I have been sewing secretly for weeks and have created many wonderful things despite lots of seam ripping and broken sewing machine needles!!! (by the way Jay threads my machine and winds my bobbin for me). First, I had to complete these little memory kits that I was assigned through my sewing placement in the Jr. League of Atlanta-I have four to turn in by tomorrow's deadline and they consist of a little mini blanket, mini hospital gown and a drawstring bag (see photo below). They look simple enough but were tiny and tedious and I am the worst with bias tape so I am very proud they are done!!!! I thought I would be sewing baby blankets again like last year but this year they assigned me these kits and I am not even a good seamstress. Also I have been working on stockings for Mary Katherine and Annalee. I wanted a new and interesting take on the traditional stocking, so as you can see they are pink and green!!!! I thought I might as well do Annalee's because she'll be here next Christmas and I don't feel like tracking down these supplies again. For Christmas we are giving MK my little doll bed that my dad made for me when I was little-I have been repainting it white and my dad is now putting it back together. I have made a little "mattress" and pillow for it out of cute white seersucker with rosebuds. I will post a pic when the bed is all in one piece. And lastly I have been working on repainting and reupholstering a bench for the foot of our bed. It was a nasty cheap looking wood stain and I painted it an antique white and took the dark striped material off and put on a think taupe stripe with little brown pin dots (I love the staple gun) and then hid the staples with some pretty trim. I took way too long on that project and am glad to have it done. I still have to make the tree skirt and then I am done sewing till 2009 when I get my embroidery machine!!!!! (I hope)

Wow Katie, you have been super busy with sewing projects. But they all came out great! I am so jealous of you getting an embroidery machine for christmas. I am dying for one. Which one are you hoping for?
